Jost Wischnewski
A und O

/ 7

In colloquial German, the term „A und O“ refers to the crucial part of something you have to know in order to fully understand.

Jost Wischnewski's works deal with movement and velocity, with the ongoing chaotic processes of change in modern societies – and it deals with the mechanisms and symbols of their organisation and control. One major aspect is „Overload of Information“. The artist uses glas in different forms and sizes as canvas. Glas is transparent, rigid and fragile. As a windows it becomes a projection screen of the outside and generates distance in the act of simultaneous and present observation. Glas allows for: hindsight, insight, foresight. The exhibition space as reflection and contemplation of the present.

Jost Wischnewski, who graduated in 1993 as master student of Prof. Klaus Rinke at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, works mainly with the media of photography, sculpture and installation. He has exhibited among others in Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland, South Korea, Russia and Italy. His works are in numerous public collections such as Deutsche Bank Collection, the collection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Kornelimünster or the Foundation Museum Kulturpalast collection.
